This area is great for snowmobiling in the winter! This area is a popular snowmobile destination in WI. Chute Pond Alone grooms 107 miles of trails. Snowmobile clubs are a great way to get connected with the trails in the area. Guests can visit their websites to check on trail conditions, trail riding information etc. There are four snowmobile clubs in the area: Chute Pond snowmobile Club/Red Arrow (based in Townsend), Paul Bunyan (based in Lakewood), LMT (based in Wabeno, Forest County). There are 2 clubs to the west, Langlade and Lily Sno-birds. Then to the East even more clubs. Townsend sits central to them all.
Hiking: Go hiking at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and check out Step Outside .org for additional hiking spots
Skiing: The Paul Bunyan Ski Hill is in Lakewood.

A great variety of restaurants in Townsend include: Little Tipsy (great pizza), Hillcrest (supper club), Sunset (nice bar restaurant with bar food), Waubee Lodge in Lakewood is a great place to eat, big log cabin overlooking Waubee Lake.

Winery: Woodland Trail Winery

In the summer, there are extensive ATV/UTV trails which are unique to the area. There aren't many places you can ride them off-road in WI and this is one of them! The trail is right across the street from the house so guests can go right from the driveway and onto the trail and not have to trailer your machines!

There are also lots of lakes and public boat launches close-by for fishing, waterskiing, jet skiing, and swimming. You are within minutes of Chain Lake and Townsend Flowage.

Public Beaches nearby: Wheeler Lake Beach and Bass Lake Beach
The property is in Townsend but is right by Lakewood.

My father said it best, “beautiful home, perfect for our family getaway up north.” Location was great, close to grocery store and several restaurants/bars/activities. House was clean and had comfortable bedding/furnishings. We would stay there again if we make the trip in the future.

Ample beds for a great stay in the northwoods with a big group of people. We were there for a fishing trip, but there are lots of trails nearby for UTVs & snowmobiles in the winter. We were more than satisfied with our stay
