Very cute place in a quieter part of Door County -- and a great location for hiking in the park and catching the ferry to nearby islands! When power was out due to a major storm, they moved us to another beautiful place for a night. Would recommend!

We loved this property. It is very private. It's off the beaten path, but many interesting features of Door County (Sister's Bay, Northpoint, Ephraim) were a short drive away.

We loved this property! Spacious, open, comfortable furniture, clean, beautiful quiet setting, exactly as pictured. A well stocked kitchen, updated appliances, washer and dryer, comfortable beds/spacious rooms with plenty of storage, games, puzzles, movies, books, and extra blankets. Plenty of bathroom necessities. Above and beyond with information about the home as well as options during your stay. Everything we needed, at our fingertips. Responsive. We really enjoyed this part of Door County. So many options within the surrounding communities without the crowds/car traffic of lower D.C. We would highly recommend this booking! Our February 2025 stay was the third or fourth in this home, the latest after a three-year hiatus. Each visit has been more comfortable and relaxing than the one before.
We very much appreciate the quiet, wooded location that seems so distant from the nearest town, Sister Bay, but in reality is quite close. Even off-season there are more than enough choices of places to dine (try Thyme, The Old English Inn, Husby's and Sister Bay Bowl, for example).
Our host , Arica, was most gracious when we had questions before and during our stay. We were pleasantly surprised at the renovations and upgrades since our last stay - including new furniture, kitchen appliances, bath fixtures, and installation of the gas fireplace.
We are already planning our next visit, a longer stay to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversray.

We had the most fantastic stay here! There was a small blip when we realized we hadn't received a code to get in upon arrival, but communication was quick. The location could not be better, and we loved how serene this place was. I especially loved starting and ending my day in the little sun room with the forest right outside my window. Having a washer and dryer was a huge plus as it allowed us to pack half of what we'd usually need to bring along and just do a load mid-stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this airbnb.

This house is beautifully furnished and decorated, with the best-stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental. The space fit our group of 6 very comfortably for sleeping, lounging and meals. We loved the little comfort touches, like cozy blankets, blackout curtains and the lovely sunroom. We had an issue with a tripped breaker and the host was very responsive and helped us get everything taken care of. A wonderful home in a wonderful spot!

We love Door County, Wife wanted to have a cabin experience this time and this was as good as it gets. The weather was on and off but we were more than happy to relax end enjoy our time in this beautiful place. Loads of quality woodwork and expertly decorated gives it a very special feel. I visited Arica’s home in Door county to celebrate my birthday for the weekend with some friends. I was looking for something private and relaxing but also close to the shops/restaurants. We were about 12 minutes from Sister Bay. Upon arrival check in was extremely easy and her home was visibly clean. It’s warm, cozy, and let’s not forget the beautiful sunroom. Given that it’s located in the woods it gives that cabin feeling, which personally I love. Her activity binder with the list of things to do and places to visit came in handy when trying to decide what to do next. Arica was extremely responsive to all of my questions and went above and beyond to help get my needs met. She is very friendly and I look forward to our next visit! My friends and I are already planning it :)

From the moment we arrived, the entire family loved the house - even our teenage grandchildren exclaimed! We were very comfortable as the house has a warm, welcoming feeling. The kids enjoyed the sunroom area and we all enjoyed the living room and the deck for family time. The kitchen was well-appointed and had all the necessities to make meals. The bedrooms were comfortable and we slept well. Also, we appreciated being able to do laundry during our stay. We are hoping that next summer we are able to travel to Door County again and will definitely stay here if we return.

Our second trip to this cozy home in the woods. Last trip was for Winter fun in February. This time we came in the second week of September thinking we would have summer temperatures. It was fall like temps, colors were just starting. This is a wonderful location if you like nature and relaxed feel and slower pace. Also nothing is far if you want to visit more shops,etc. in fish creek. We took the ferry to Washington Island and enjoyed that day trip a lot. Also there is hiking and night sky viewing at Newport State Park. The home is exactly as advertised very clean, very comfortable. We just love the tranquil vibe here. Thanks again for hosting us!

Our family loved our 5-day stay at Arica's house in the woods! The house itself is gorgeous and cozy and so, so cool! The sunroom is amazing - it was especially fun to sit out there one afternoon and listen to the rain on the skylights! The table is nice and big, such a great gathering space for meals and games. And the living room is so cool with the high beamed ceiling. Appreciated all the little touches, like having cozy throw blankets, and the very well stocked kitchen with all the utensils, etc. we needed to make meals. My favorite of all the favorite parts, is the outdoor patio with the table & chairs surrounded by tall trees - it feels like you're a million miles away from everything, and yet it's a super easy drive to everything we wanted to do! Thank you Arica so much for creating such a magical place for a getaway!

This is our second year in a row coming to Arica’s place for spring break and it was just as we remembered. Quiet, peaceful, and welcoming. The house is really neat and homey with all needed amenities. The sunroom is our favorite spot to relax and have breakfast, tea, or a drink. We came with our three young kids and they love it too. We played lots of Bug-opoly and took advantage of the woods to explore through the snow. A great place to unwind and to day-trip to parks, restaurants and shops!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable with plenty of space. A lot of thought went into making this a comfortable home away from home. There were plenty of consumables such as paper products, coffee filters, detergents, shampoos, etc. Additionally items like tea, coffee, various spices, and cooking oils, were also there. I can't say that these are promised items, but had we forgotten something it was thoughtful that they were there. It snowed while we were there and snow removal was great. If it had been summer we could have used either the charcoal or the gas grill. Instead, we enjoyed the fireplace in the living room as well as watching it snow while hanging out in the four-seasons room. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/silverware/utensils. There were enough of all of these that we didn't have to run the dishwasher after every meal. These aren't the kinds of things that show up in a property description, but they are the kinds of things that make a stay extra comfortable and worry free. It shows someone going above and beyond to create a good experience. If you are looking for a place in northern Door county we recommend giving this place a look.

Quiet and peaceful, tucked into the woods in Door Co. This home offers you a warm and inviting place to stay. The Kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. The high ceiling invites you into the family room where you can enjoy a nice fire in the fireplace. We really enjoyed the four season room. It has a heated floor and the windows give you a panoramic view of the wooded area around the house. The bedrooms are nice size and the beds are very comfortable. The house was very clean and communication with Arica was Awesome. We would definitely go back!

If you are looking for a peaceful comfortable getaway this rental is perfect. There were only two of us so we did not use the upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom in main level bed was very comfortable. As is the whole house, fireplace, 4 season room. We were there for nature, snowshoeing, a few dinners and the area and home were perfect for that. Also visited the winter fest in fish creek, great hiking at Newport State Park, took a sleigh ride- it was great! We could have used another few days of it! Thank you to our host who stayed in easy contact- although we had no issues.

My family joined me in Door County to celebrate my retirement after 43 years as a physical therapist. There were 6 of us & this property in Ellison Bay provided the perfect getaway. There were 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms with comfortable furnishings. The woodland setting was relaxing & we enjoyed the antics of the squirrels & birds at the feeders. The kitchen was well provisioned with cookware & gadgets & spices which made making a few meals There quite easy. There was plenty of room in the great room with TV & Wi-Fi that worked perfectly. The house was located a very short walk from the water at Rowley's Bay & very near to Grandma's Swedush Bakery for cardamom coffee cakes for breakfast in the morning. There was a washer & dryer in the premises which was very convenient. All in all this was a fantastic property & I highly recommend it.

We so enjoyed the property in the woods, we saw deer, squirrels, birds and chipmunks. The cabin in the woods had EVERYTHING in the cabin. The gas fireplace was so wonderful and the bathrooms and bedrooms were so spacious and clean with abundant amenities. The kitchen had everything that you could require to prepare meals and all of the cookware. The laundry had all the supplies needed. Such a perfect rustic spacious home!

This house was perfect for our group of 6 adults. Clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The location is very secluded in a quiet subdivision. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with our adult daughters and their significant others at this cabin by Rowley's Bay. The tall trees surrounding the cabin make you feel like you are in the middle of the woods. It was wonderful sleeping with the windows open and hearing the wind blowing through the trees. We walked up to the dock by Rowley's Bay Resort and were fortunate enough to see northern lights. The cabin was clean and well provisioned - we would definitely recommend it!

This was our second time staying here, and we enjoyed it as much as the first. We had four adults and two kids -- three generations. The home is comfortable and had everything we needed to cook meals regularly. We walked 5 minutes to the pier almost daily for fishing. It's a very peaceful location and convenient for exploring places like Sister Bay, Ephraim and Bailey's Harbor. We've already booked for next year.

We--me, my husband, and our four-year-old--had a wonderful time staying at this property in August 2022. The location is terrific. We come to Door County to enjoy the woods and lake, and with Newport State Park less than 15 minutes away, the house was perfectly located for us. It is also an easy drive to Peninsula (Nicolet Beach is great for kids) and some smaller spots we had fun discovering (Ellison Bluff Park and Three Springs Nature trail). If you want to enjoy Door County's small towns, Ellison Bay is very close and so is Sister Bay. The house itself was extremely comfortable and really well suited to us. It is very, very quiet and peaceful, and we enjoyed walking around the little neighborhood and hanging out on the dock. Indoors, there are lot of small details that set it apart from other properties (in my experience). These include a clean and sensibly stocked kitchen (with no random food from previous tenants!); high-quality blinds and tower fans in the bedrooms; good dressers, closets and hangers so that there's plenty of space to unpack. The deck, living room and sunroom were great places to hang out. Arica Hirsch was a kind and communicative host. We hope to be back!

Africa’s place was very comfortable, clean, and well-appointed. The setting is beautiful, in the midst of the forest. Loved the sunken sunroom and the deck. Would be nice in the winter, too, I imagine. Unfortunately the internet did not work at all. Apparently that is an issue in Door County, so it probably shouldn’t have been listed as an amenity.

We had a lovely time at this cabin, it was a great space for a family of 4. The beds were comfy and it felt well cleaned. We loved walking down to Rowley’s Bay resort. The closest beach was a 5 minute drive but within 15 minutes we could get to all different kinds of beaches.
The WiFi was there, but minimal. Expect that this will be a pretty disconnected holiday.

Communication was easy before & during the stay. The beds were very comfortable and our favorite space was the sunroom where we could enjoy the bird feeders and view into the trees. The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed the selection of DVDs for some family movie time in the evenings. The walk to the lake was quite short and the neighborhood was very quiet. It's truly a sweet, well-stocked home in the woods. If the peace and tranquility of the woods is your ideal spot, this is it! It was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Sister Bay but close enough to get groceries from Piggly Wiggly, restaurants, coffee and of course Wild Tomato pizza.

We loved our stay here. Everything you could possibly need is supplied. The location is perfect. During our stay we had visits from deer, a fox, raccoons and many different types of squirrels. They came right up to the window on the patio! A welcoming fireplace to keep us warm during cooler nights. Although on the “quiet side” we were just a short drive from many great restaurants and shops. The sunroom is awesome we spent a lot of time in there. Minutes away from Lake Michigan. We plan on returning next year.

Stayed here with my mom and two sisters. It was the perfect place for us. There was everything we needed for cooking, and lots of space for relaxing, both inside and out. Communication with owner was excellent. The stairs to upstairs are quite steep for people in our “seasoned” age group, but overall it was wonderful. This was an idyllic place for a long, restful weekend up north. The property is in very good condition: clean, well-stocked, comfortable, and welcoming. We brought our three young children (6, 4, 2.5) and this place delivered, as they loved the games and puzzles, the open stairs and living room to play and explore, and the comfortable and warm beds. My daughter and I had fun filling the bird feeders, we say families of deer run through the forest on two occasions, and we stayed warm with the heated floors and gas fireplace. It was a perfect wooded and quiet location to use as a home base for day trips to Bailey's Harbor and Newport State Park.

This is our second year here, and once again it was a wonderful get away! The house has plenty of space to relax and we enjoyed watching the wildlife in the woods outside while sitting cozy by the fire and watching the Olympics. We explored Peninsula State Park, drove up to the Washington Island Ferry and spent some time in Sister Bay. Everything is convenient and you get to spend time in a cabin in the woods. Kitchen is well stocked, its like a home away from home with young kids. Will definitely be back each year as long as its open!

Our long weekend at the cabin was amazing. Everything we could have wanted - full kitchen, cozy fireplace, woods surrounding cabin, and all the other comforts of home. We took a walk down to the little path to the lake and a short trip into town to Kick Ash. Would stay again!

Relaxing and lovely. We had a leisurely weekend enjoying DC winter activities, cooking and reading. The cabin’s kitchen is well outfitted, and deer walked right past the windows. It’s a very short drive to Newport State Park, and Peninsula SP is pretty close as well. Internet was spotty, but cell coverage was fine.

This house was everything we needed for a NYE get away! The house comfortably accommodated 6 adults. This was by far the best Air B&B kitchen sitch I’ve ever seen.
The attention to detail and comfort can not be understated. Arica is an excellent communicator and quickly responded to messages. A delight all around.
The home is tucked away at the end of a neighborhood. The surrounding tree cover offers great feelings of privacy and beautiful tree views through one of the several skylights. The rustic interiors was cozy and warm. The floor heating both in the kitchen and solarium were excellent for our tootsies.
The highlight has to be the incredible bird watching - we saw a nice variety during our stay. Would love to return in warmer weather!

We had a wonderful stay at Arica’s cozy cabin to celebrate our honeymoon. The self check-in was super smooth, and Arica was very helpful and communicative throughout the process. The cabin was very clean, well-equipped, and the secluded location was top notch. We loved the easy “on” button for the fireplace and being able to watch the birds from the couch and sunroom. We also enjoyed going out to eat and cooking at the house!
We never were able to get the internet working, but having a break from connectivity was lovely nonetheless and we still had adequate cell service. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet place in the woods to a balance your Door County adventure. Thanks again, Arica!

First experience using VRBO and first stay in this gorgeous home tho we have had our family fall reunions at what was Wagon Trail Inn homes for 30 years now! 5 stars are not quite enough! From preregistering to first day till headed home, Arica, our host was genuine, quick and thorough to answer any questions about accommodations or finding what was needed. The home was decorated with interesting art, had plenty of lights for us readers, great gas fireplace , bird feeders for us birders (tho red and grey squirrels appeared). Our beds were comfy and heat easy to regulate (tho Fall Fest week was quite warm ) , and furniture quite comfy! We didn’t do much actual cooking but whatever we needed was in well stocked pantry and drawers! We didn’t watch much TV but satellite was working for what we needed , music stations as well. Cell phones iffy but that’s a north Door Co issue . We’ll see you next year!

My family -- my spouse and I, two kiddos, and grandparents --had a wonderful end to our summer at Arica's property. The house is comfortable and extremely well stocked. The location is wonderful -- peaceful with plenty to do very close by for those who love to be outdoors. My kids fished at Rowley's Bay, we hiked at Newport and the Mink River Natural Area, and we rented kayaks just minutes from the property. Arica's house is delightful. It is spectacularly clean (!) and very comfortable. There are many small touches that are likely to make any guest's stay especially pleasant, from the ease of using the outdoor patio/grill and laundry machines to the soaps and shampoos in the bathrooms. The location is fantastic: quiet and woodsy, but near enough to Sister Bay as to make the drive quite painless (even with a grumpy toddler in the back). We would love to return!

Arica's home is gorgeous, comfortable and an all-around wonderful spot to stay. Best stocked AirBnB kitchen I have ever seen!! Beautiful location, lots of up-close bird-watching through the windows and clean, clean, clean. Just a general FYI for others: the WiFi was spotty to the point of nonexistence, and phone service was bad (we have Verizon) so if you need to be connected you might want to make a contingency plan. But of course being disconnected was a welcome respite! Lastly, Arica was very responsive to any questions. I would definitely recommend this place.

The only problem was the wi-fi. Not very good internet connection. Extremely frustrating but then again it forced us to put our phones and tablets down! Great place to stay, you won't regret it! Bigger than it seems in some photos. Very well-stocked with supplies and kitchen tools. Arica is very communicative and helpful. There is an extra registration/verification step through a third party system, but it is super easy to do.

Three of us spent a few days at this beautiful home. It was located in a beautiful area near Ellison Bay in Door County. This cabin is wonderful! I went with my husband and 2 kids, 7 and 4, in late Feb. it was a perfect place to spend family time by the fire, playing games and relaxing! The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed bird watching and running around the area. We drove into town a couple of times and went hiking in some of the parks, but this was the perfect home base for a relaxing weekend! Would love to stay here in all seasons! The cabin itself was amazing, plenty of space, very clean and comfortable! The kitchen was extremely well stocked (although we did enjoy some carry out from Chives and Chop). Hosting was great, easy in and out, with perfect instructions about everything provided in a binder. Love this place!

This is a fantastic place. We stayed as a couple for a long weekend in January and loved the quiet version of Door County. It helped that the weather was reasonable.
The space exactly as listed, if not even better. We loved hanging out in the living room with the fireplace. The kitchen was fully equipped and had all the extras to eat at home, and we enjoyed coffee and breakfast in the sunroom. The king bed was comfy and the bathroom/shower was very nice. It was just the two of us, so we didn’t use the guest bedrooms, but both looked on par with the rest of the house.
The location is quiet and wooded, though there are other houses nearby. It’s convenient to all of the points of interest in the northern part of Door County. We especially enjoyed hiking in Newport and Peninsula State Parks. Ellison Bay, Sister Bay, and Baileys Harbor are all easy drives (5-20mins away)
The pictures of the place are accurate and it might actually be bigger than it appears. We loved the varied and eclectic artwork. Check-in/out was a breeze and Arica was super responsive.
Highest recommendations. This is a great spot and we’ll be back.

We stayed at the cottage at the end of October when most of Door County is closed, especially this year. It didn't matter at all! We loved being at the cottage and relaxing, the setting is very tranquil. We took walks nearby, the lake is very close. The kitchen has everything you would want to use. We were looking for somewhere to unplug and be away from crowds, and Oma's Haus worked out well for us. The property was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The only downside to our stay was due to the dining choices nearby as we chose not to cook during our stay. One of our party was vegetarian and vegetarian choices were very limited at most restaurants in the area. To be fair, this may have been somewhat affected by closures and limited hours due to the pandemic. Overall, we enjoyed our Door County visit and expect to go back again, hopefully during the cherry harvest!

This house is tucked into the trees on the quiet side of the peninsula away from all of the busy towns and people. When you get out of your car, all you hear is the birds and the wind blowing through the trees. The property is nicely decorated and we found the beds and all of the furniture to be quite comfortable. The sun room was a great place to watch the birds at the feeders and the squirrels running around in the woods. We never saw any deer, but there were plenty of prints to let us know they were there. The owner met us at the house upon check-in and explained everything we needed to know for an enjoyable stay. She texted the next day just to make sure things were going okay and made some great suggestions for local restaurants and shopping. If you stay here, take the time to do some star gazing on the concrete pier at the end of Wagon Trail Circle. It is far enough away from the lights of the small marina and the resort parking lot. We saw numerous shootings stars on a beautifully clear night when we were there. We would stay again if we had the chance.

Nestled in the woods the quiet location is a welcome respite from the density and pace of Chicago, where Nancy and I hail from. Although away from the maddening crowd this home is close enough to Sister Bay and other places in Northern Door County that we never feel isolated. and have easy access to places we haunt on our annual visit (Husby's, Sister Bay Bowl and Piggly Wiggly to name three). My daughter and I just spent a fabulous week at the"woodsy" cabin. My wife of 57 years passed from this life last November and we took this trip to honor her memory. Door county was her favorite vacation destination and as result we vacationed here on seven occasions. This home would have become her new favorite The home is beautiful, functional and has all the amenities and then some. We loved the spacious comfortable bedrooms, the cozy family room, it's decor and art work. The kitchen was designed to make cooking a breeze. Just about every thing is within an arms reach. We can not overstate the the look and feel of this home. The setting in the woods and the wild life gives one great comfort. Carolyn is a great host and greeted us upon our arrival. We loved our stay at Carolyn’s place. She couldn’t have been nicer upon check in, and it was so nice to have her show us the ropes. Prior to check in, she was so kind as to send me a great list of things to do with or our school aged kiddos. The house was even better than depicted in the photos. Nestled in a wooded lot in a wonderful neighborhood, you feel secluded, but still have a quiet neighborhood feel when you exit the property. It was so nice to be able to return from the nearby towns to our quiet retreat. We met one of the neighbors who has lived there his entire life, and he was so kind as to give us some local tips. (we visited the Red Putter for mini golf- loved it and we so thankful for his recommendation, as it was one of the highlights for the kids ) Say hello if you run into him! The house sits right around the corner from Rowley’s Bay Resort ( though there are no crowds or anything to take away from the private feel). We sat on the piers and watched the pelicans and saw 2 bald eagles. You can rent kayaks and whatnot there as well. Back to the house- The beds were very comfortable- even our kiddos slept well. The living room was warm and inviting, and we played board and card games while watching the multitude of birds at the feeder. The soaking tub was definitely a highlight for our little ones. They thoroughly enjoyed some evening and morning baths while we all sat and enjoyed the wildlife. We had two deer visit while the kids were bathing- what a fun experience. The kitchen is well stocked and plenty of space. We made plenty of meals and even pitted and froze 20 pounds of tart cherries we picked at Lautenbach’s Orchard. We visited one of the quiet beaches Carolyn recommended at a state park, and it was just what we were looking for. There was another quiet beach with a playground etc. we wished we had time for. There’s an awesome binder of restaurants etc. that has notes, that we found super helpful. One fun shop we visited in Ephraim in the way back home was the Gem & Rock Shop. We all loved it, but I think my kids loved it most. They were able to select a rock, and crack it open to reveal a beautiful geode. They also did the sluice box mining and the kids were beyond thrilled to walk away with gemstones and fossils they had cleaned on their own. We loved this house so much and felt right at home. We will definitely return! Thank you for a wonderful first trip to Door County!

My 2 year old loved picking and eating the Thimble berries that grow just off the patio. We loved watching the woodpeckers and humming birds every morning.We had a visit from the biggest woodpecker we have ever seen! The “Secret” beach was wonderful. If this house is available grab it! The location and cabin were both absolutely perfect. As most do, we lead very busy lives and we just needed a place to escape and we couldn't have asked for a better place. There was literally everything you need and very well organized. Carolyn does a phenomenal job communicating, making you feel welcome, and truly wants you to have a great time. The location was perfect--we saw plenty of wildlife and were in the trees, but could be in a few different towns in about 10-15 minutes. So many great local restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping--you name it you should be able to find it. I seriously can't say enough wonderful things. I did a lot of research and if you are right now--stop, you've found the perfect place!

A lovely immaculately-kept property, very convenient to Newport State Park and the Rowley's Bay areas. Well-maintained by an owner who obviously has an eye for detail (complimentary shower caps?! high-quality plumbing fixtures?! extra birdfeeding materials so we could attract the birds to the multiple stations?! wow). The welcome packet and appliance-instruction manual is very thorough, and the local attractions info was very handy. The kitchen is FULLY stocked with all the tools and cookware you could possibly need -- even olive oil and spices! Carolyn the owner is also great at replying to questions through the Homeaway app (we did need a little help figuring out how to increase the hot-tub water heater temp, but she walked us through that no problem). Mattresses are firm and comfortable, plenty of bedding if the nights are cold. We will definitely keep this property at the top of our list for return trips to the area. Thank you!!

Just got back from a great weekend with my wife and 4 of our friends in Door County and I can't say enough about this house and Carolyn. We called Carolyn when we reached Sturgeon Bay and she met us at the house to make sure we didn't have any questions on anything. Overall the house was in immaculate condition. We had a winter getaway and enjoyed every minute. I think the photos do not do it justice. It is remarkably cozy. The gas fireplace kicks out a lot of heat and is beautiful. The Jacuzzi is wonderful. The house feels very private even though you are near other homes. You cannot see them. The amenities are on point. I have never been in a rental so well appointed. Quality shampoo/conditioner etc. if you don't want to bring your stuff. The kitchen has everything that you would want and is stocked with tea and coffee. There's a lot of wildlife-birds, deer which will come right up to the house etc. If you just need to wind down for a bit--just book it. You'll be glad.

We brought our 3-year old, and in-laws on this stay. Carolyn was an AMAZING host. We had a welcome email from her about 10 days before our trip in which Carolyn asked if we had any special interests or plans made for our trip. She's also a phenomenal resource on the history of Door County, activities, tourist sites and restaurants. Carolyn even took the extra step to make sure toys were already waiting (thanks to her grandson) for our son when we arrived. The house is lovely - the photos don't do it justice. Everything you need in a home is here with brand new appliances. The house was cozy warm and had great views of visiting birds from the sitting room. If needed, AC and fans are available. This was a nice, very quiet community. Location is walking distance to the lake that had a little pier which was great for photography or skipping stones. It was about a 10 minute drive to Sister Bay for sightseeing and restaurants. We'd definitely stay here again. Great family memories were made here. Thank you Carolyn!

Amazing, peaceful, home away from home and just plain WONDERFUL! I have stayed at quite a few VRBO’s and by far this was the best! The house was super clean and welcoming! This is our second time back to The House in the Woods. We initially stayed 2 years ago. We once again had a great time. The home is peaceful and comfortable. We had 6 in our party and had more than enough room. I made dinners most nights and did not want for any cookware, There are also cleaning supplies available which is great to keep things tidy and cleaned up. (I am perplexed when the cleaning supplies are locked away.) Carolyn is a great owner to work with and she truly goes out of her way to make sure everything is okay and that your expectations are met. Owner Carolyn gave exceptional attention to our comfort, including greeting us upon arrival with farm fresh eggs and a bag of cherry granola. She showed us through the clean and comfortable home and explained where light switches were and how appliances and the satellite TV worked. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, and tools. The sun room is wonderful. It is light and bright, good for games, reading, or soaking in the hot tub. A CD player was there with a variety of CDs to enjoy. The bathrooms are well stocked with bath towels, beach towels, nice soaps, shampoo and conditioner. The full size laundry room had several detergents, even one for sensitive skin. It had spare TP and paper towels, too. Pots of bright flowers add to the charm. Books with Door County history and photos were on end tables to read. . Carolyn texted several times during our stay to ask if we had any questions and to be sure we were comfortable. We were very pleased with this rental. Please Note: In Door County cell service, regardless of carrier, is generally available in the towns. Out in the countryside it is tough to get a text, and calls are almost impossible. This is no reflection upon property owners, its just a lack of cell towers. We made our calls in town and had no problem.

Little house In the woods is a wonderful property. It is secluded yet a short drive to state parks and towns. The kitchen is well equipped. The bathrooms have a great supply of towels and toiletries. Well we didn’t plan on the largest April snowstorm in Wisconsin history but what a great place to be snowed in. The house is beautiful we fully utilized the fireplace it’s has this awesome decor that’s a bit of everything. We loved the spa room and where so lucky to have a family of deer visit us twice coming less than ten feet away remarkable.when the snow cleared we enjoyed a great dinner at chop and had an awesome craft day at hands on art barn . We rented this house off-season for a long weekend, Wed-Sun, and had a truly great stay. The house was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The photos make it look a bit more like a cabin, but in reality it's a well-built house. It was cold when we were there (snow on the ground in late March), but the house was always very warm (including heated floors in the kitchen and sun room). Everything worked throughout the house and was well maintained. The kitchen was well appointed with pots, pans, utensils, and many basic ingredients for cooking (salt, spices, oil, etc.). There was a new, high-quality sofa and loveseat in the living room, and a new Blu-ray player to go with the LCD TV. Although the house isn't on the water, there's access within a couple hundred yards (not that it mattered for us on this trip!). The owner is excellent at communicating, attentive, and very helpful. There is internet service, but it's very slow. The owner was very open and honest about that up front, so it wasn't a surprise. The speed is fast enough for emails and for basic connection to social media, but will not support streaming TV or movies through Netflix, Amazon video, etc.

What a great weekend getaway! The Little House in the Woods is everything we hoped for in our Door County retreat and more. The host - Carolyn - is top notch. From the farm fresh eggs and fresh coffee she provided, to great communication and even a free (with no request by us) upgrade of the DirecTV package so we could watch the Olympics; this weekend exceeded our expectations. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, and the house is perfect. It is well decorated and feels just like a cabin in Door County should. There are hiking trails surrounding the property, and it is close enough to the Northern towns for access to great amenities. I would highly recommend the property to anyone looking for an excellent weekend in one of the most beautiful areas of Wisconsin. We are definitely going to be back, and likely sooner than we thought.

We wanted a snowy, cozy winter getaway, and this house provided all that and more! Carolyn was the consummate hostess, welcoming us with fresh farm eggs and coffee in the kitchen and ensuring throughout our stay that we had everything we needed. When a winter storm dumped over 18 inches of fresh snow during what was supposed to be our last night, she made arrangements for us to ride out the storm. The house, too, is wonderful - the perfect mixture of cozy decor and modern convenience. The kitchen is updated and well-stocked, and the bedrooms are roomy. The heated floors were much appreciated, with the sun-room plus whirlpool tub being the perfect spot to relax and watch the snow fall. This is our family’s second visit to this Rowleys Bay gem. Carolyn is the consummate host, anticipating any needs while managing to be unobtrusive at the same time. This time in Door County we were not looking to stay in the hustle and bustle of a town - we were looking for quiet seclusion. We stayed at this property for 10 days and it was perfect. The property is located in a quiet, secluded area, surrounded by woods. The drive is only about 10 minutes to Sister Bay and 20-25 minutes to further towns such as Fish Creek and Bailey's Harbor. We three couples were in town for the Door County Triathlon, and looking for a good place on the quiet/rustic side of the peninsula. Carolyn's place was perfect. The pictures do not do it justice --- very clean; very spacious (six adults plus 2 infants) never felt cramped; awesome kitchen; awesome sun room; awesome birdfeeders and wildlife; awesome decor and ambiance; awesome patio and grill (despite some mosquito!); and a refreshing walk to the bakery and bay that we did each morning. Our logistics had some complications, and Carolyn was most responsive (best response time I've ever seen) and accommodation (she truly takes pride in ensuring her guests are comfortable). It's tucked into the quiet community of Rowley's Bay, but is very accessible to the "hustle and bustle" of Door County if that is what you are looking for. I can't imagine not coming back.

The property is in a quiet part of Door County but still close to activities. It is well kept and comfortable. The lake is a short walk away. Carolyn is a wonderful host and gave us many tips on places to go and things to see! She greeted us to tell us about the home and had fresh eggs waiting for us on arrival. This is a great place for a family to stay (we had 5 adults and 1 infant) and were very comfortable. Everything is there that we needed. We would definitely stay again when visiting Door County.

Our family recently enjoyed almost a week at the little cabin in the woods! It is a beautiful, well maintained property that is nicely equipped with everything needed to enjoy time away from work and from home. This cabin is a wonderful property with everything you might need for a quiet getaway. The location, just a few minutes walk from the lake and a short drive from Newport State Park, was perfect for us. Newport offers some stunning hiking trails and was not crowded at all on the days we visited. Returning home to the cabin to make dinner in the wonderfully stocked kitchen and relax in front of the fireplace was a treat. We also loved reading our books in the morning while watching the activity on the bird feeders outside the large and sunny windows. Carolyn was incredibly accommodating and made us feel very welcome for our stay. Thank you so much for making the cabin dog-friendly. We loved being able to share this trip with our pup. This house was just perfect for a quiet weekend get-away in winter. Carolyn was wonderful; she met us at the door, gave us a dozen fresh eggs from free-range chickens, showed us all of the amazing amenities and how they worked, and made sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay. She provided great recommendations for a nearby organic food market (Waseda Farms), and the kitchen was amazingly well stocked with spices, oils, cookware, dishes, utensils, etc., ideal for cooking our own gourmet meals. The house is tucked into a cedar forest behind the Rowleys Bay Resort at the far end of the road. While there are some neighboring houses, the vegetation provides good screening and seclusion. The inside of the house is decorated with fascinating artifacts from around the world; it was fun to explore. The fireplace was a perfect retreat on the cold winter nights. A unique sunroom, sunken partially into the ground, had a relaxing jet tub with windows that looked out into the cedar forest; you feel surrounded by the woods. We appreciated all of the small touches that made our experience comfortable and homey... active bird feeders, heated floors, a good selection of music, books, and movies, Wi-Fi, locally made soap, decorative lighting, etc. You really feel that the house has been cared for. We hiked several trails around the area, including one near the property that winds from the back of the Rowleys Bay Resort to beautiful Sand Bay Town Park. Don't miss the Lynn Point/Fern loop trail at nearby Newport State Park, and the new nature center and boardwalk at The Ridges Sanctuary in Baileys Harbor. This was a wonderful place to stay on our winter weekend adventure, and we look forward to coming back in the future.

Hands down, truly the ideal cabin, with all the bells and whistles. The main living room is warm and welcoming with a wonderful fireplace. The kitchen has great appliances and the heated floors were great for a winter stay. Every aspect of the home has been well considered and is superbly done. Great furnishings, comfortable beds, and the sun room with the hot tub with a view of the woods was definitely appreciated. Carolyn was immediately accessible for any questions and checked in with us by text to make sure that everything was going as planned. Winter is one of my favorite seasons in Door County, and I would recommend booking this cabin to anyone looking to enjoy the peacefulness of the winter months. (The Candlelight Ski Events at Peninsula and Newport State Parks in February would be good reasons to visit.) Such a gem. I would book every year for the next decade if I could!

We visited on our minimoon during the off season and it was perfect! The cabin has all the modern conveniences (Internet, dishwasher, in-floor heat) but the trees and area made us feel like we weren't in the middle of no where (we LOVED). My husband, our two labs and myself had a wonderful time. A wonderful quiet spot that's not to far away from things to do. The house was just perfect. Had everything you need and then some. I enjoy cooking and always worry I won't have something I need. Didn't happen here. Great spot for walks and seeing the water. The bird feeders outside the window are nature at its best. This stay was for 6 ladies who have been friends for 40 years. We planned a trip to Door County to have a "Girl's Weekend" and during the planning we found this property on VRBO. It had the amenities we were looking for (sleeping accommodations for 6, 2 bathrooms, bed linens and towels). Upon our arrival, Gail met us at the front door with a smile. She was very gracious and had been extremely patient with us all afternoon as we made our way through Door County making many stops along the way (arriving quite late in the afternoon)! After our tour of the house we all quickly acclimated to the house and kicked back for a relaxing evening.....and weekend. The house was quiet and comfortable and we enjoyed every moment we were there. We didn't have any issues with any aspects of the house and were a little sad for the weekend to come to an end. This house would definitely be on our list if we are in the area again. During the reservation process Carolyn was forthright and clear with her answers for any questions we had, which was very reassuring. I would recommend anyone to consider this house for a get-away. My husband and I and our three young adult children really enjoyed this property. It was quaint yet roomy enough for our family of five. My youngest daughter really enjoyed laying on the futon and stargazing through the skylights in the sun room! The entire family also enjoyed bird watching through the picture window. There was a book available for us to reference what kind of birds were visiting us! The kitchen was well-equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. There was also a full size washer and dryer. The cabin is nestled in the woods but you are still only a half a mile from the water and Rowley's Bay Resort. The only thing it is missing is a fire pit. We would have enjoyed sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows! Overall, the owners are very nice, the cabin is lovely, and we hope to stay there again in the future.

Enjoyed the frequent visits by the local bird species including the large Woodpecker. Secluded location but still close enough (15 minutes) to all the special west shoreline areas, Sister Bay, Egg Harbor,etc. Suprised to see the local Thimbleberry growing in the back yard area. Wonderful place to visit with all the comforts of home. Kitchen is well stocked with appliances and supplies to make any meal. We often have to bring bread boards, extra kitchen towels and sharp knives. No need here. We were also greeted by Carolyn with fresh eggs and Corsica bread-yum. The rooms are comfortable. We had my father along who uses a wheelchair and walker and he was very comfortable navigating the home. The beach is a walk through the woods but not far, and the drive is reasonable if you do not feel like walking. The Beach Club is a close walk with kayaks and SUP's to rent, along with friendly staff to assist you. Short drive into town for groceries, shops and restaurants. Relaxing time... It is a wonderful getaway. Will return to this rental when we return to Door County in the future. Thanks Carolyn and Robert!!

This house was extremely clean, amply supplied with top-shelf kitchen tools, and perfect for our group of 5 gals from college days. It was so peaceful we weren't aware of neighbors at all. Carolyn met us at the house, gave us fresh bakery bread and local eggs and showed us around. When a plumbing situation arose she had someone address it quickly. The place is filled with natural light all day due to many windows and skylights and an open floor plan. My friends thanked me over and over for finding such a nice place for our get-together. I would definitely recommend it for a group or family vacation. We had fun on a segway tour, took in a hilarious play at Peninsula State Park, rode the ferry to Washington Island for the interesting Cherry Train tour, and enjoyed the best fish boil ever at the Old Post Office restaurant in Ephraim. It was always great to get back to the house to relax or fix a meal.

Great house! Super clean & well taken care of. We loved staying here & will certainly stay here again. We loved watching the squirrels they were very entertaining. This cabin retreat is above and beyond anything we could have expected. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to be able to sit in the hot tub and watch the snow fall in the Winter. It is beautifully furnished with a combination of modern appliances and eclectic artwork on the walls. The owners have provided everything you could possibly think of to make one's stay more comfortable. In addition, Carolyn is a joy to work with. She was always quick to respond to voice-mails and eager to offer advice on the area or solutions to any problems. You CANNOT find a more wonderful place to stay for the money. Whenever I rent from VRBO I feel like I'm trekking into the unknown: Will the place I've chosen live up to its online advertising? Will the host or hostess communicate with me enough? Too much? How long will it take me to feel at ease? And -- extra important for my family -- will the house be "nice" but also welcoming of our dogs (a deal-breaker if the answer is no)? In The Little House in the Woods, my husband and I found close to our idea of perfection. It all began the moment we pulled up and Carolyn greeted us with a warm smile, fresh eggs & bread, and helpful suggestions for our weekend. We spent the ensuing 72 hours soaking up the quiet (against the soft drumbeat of low-chirping frogs), leisurely bike rides and hikes in Newport Park (great place for dogs!), and an unforgettable night watching the full moon over Rowleys Bay. Back at the Little House, we cozied up on incredibly comfortable couches, made dinner in the well-appointed kitchen, and sipped wine on the patio. I slept harder and more peacefully than I had in months if not years -- this home is a true sanctuary away from the chaos of the workaday world. And again, the fact that our whole family, human and canine, were so lovingly welcomed was central to our positive experience. Wonderful neighbors too -- truly friendly without being intrusive. I can't recommend this place highly enough and wish everyone who stays here the restoration we enjoyed.

We just returned from a lovely 5 days in this Rowley's Bay rental home. It was everything described- with a good cookware collection that allowed me to make my slow Fettucine Bolognese and serve it by the tall stone fireside. The home is snug as a bug- while the winds whistled outside, I soaked in the large jacuzzi under skylights pierced by starlight and sprinkled with snow, listening to the supplied nature sounds /music CD. My feet were even warm when barefoot because the kitchen tile and natural stone solarium floors are heated. Nice touch! We saw Pileated woodpeckers at the feeder 2 feet from the sofa.The King bed was quite comfy and, although there were apparently some neighbors somewhere, we only saw one man while on a walk one day, and two rather chilled great blue herons on the neighborhood pond.A lovely home a reasonable price, and a most courteous host. I think you'll be pleased.
