We rented this cottage to celebrate our 25th anniversary, it was perfect. Loved the location and rocky beach for sunsets. So cool to read about family history of the place, several pictures hanging in bathroom of cottage being built and family spending time there. Cottage was built in 50s but maintained well and clean.

We had a fantastic stay! Check-in was a breeze, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The place was spotless and well-maintained. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook both dinner and breakfast, which was really convenient. The cabin itself was super cute with a great view of the water—we loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The fire pit was perfect for cozy evenings. This location is perfect. Easy access to the water, and felt very private.
It was just a short drive to Sturgeon Bay restaurants and bars, and a bit more of a drive to points north. But really felt like we were in the middle of it all while also feeling peaceful and remote.
The beds and linens were comfortable, and the bath towels were super soft.
The cabin itself is older, but it has charm if you are looking for something rustic. It was very clean and there was lots of storage space for all our stuff we brought from home.
I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a getaway in Door County.

We had a great week at Stony Shore cabin. Cute cabin, knotty pine throughout, loved the screen porch. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon it was a very hot day. We were pleasantly surprised that the cabin had been updated with air conditioning! 🎉 A couple minor suggestions/additions, a night light in the bathroom, an extra house key & expansion of the parking area. We had two full sized pickups and it was difficult to get turned around/parked so we didn’t have to back out onto the highway. On days when our group went two different directions it would have been handy to have two(2) house keys. Overall we enjoyed our stay. A full sized fridge was nice, kitchen was well stocked with dishes/pots and pans. Comfortable beds and pillows. Pullout couch came in handy to get a distance away from snoring housemates. 😉 Thanks for a fun week in Door County.

Our group of four adults thoroughly enjoyed Stony Shore – an intimate cabin perched above the rocky shores of Green Bay. Each day we delighted in the changing moods of this ocean-like lake just steps from the cabin. The private setting in the cedar trees enhanced the feeling of solitude. And the rocky shoreline offered us easy and private connection to the crystal-clear waters of Green Bay. The small deck set above the lakeshore provided great views of the lake, out of the wind. The cabin invoked childhood memories – the owners have preserved its quaint, intimate, traditional feel reminiscent of the lake cabins of the 1950s. We loved being able to walk out the door and cross the road for hikes through the Bayshore Blufflands State Natural Area or jump on our bikes for rides on the endless quiet roads of Door Co. It was hard to leave. We will come back!

Our stay was great and just 15 minutes north of Sturgeon Bay. Just off a relatively quiet road, it was a great spot to enjoy the fall colors! We were in town for a relay run in Door County which worked out great and was very convenient for the end of the race in Sturgeon Bay. The water access would be great for the summer months, but unfortunately was a bit cold and windy to enjoy in October. We loved being able to bring our fur baby as well, which ultimately was why we chose this property. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved the rustic 1950's cabin, lake deck, and beach access. The stand of trees surrounding the cabin provided privacy from neighboring cabins. The bench on the shade shrouded lake deck offered incredible lake and sunset views. The family who built and still own the property are to be commended for allowing others to make their own memories at this cabin. Housekeeping had a few miscues, but Simple Life was responsive to our concerns.

Stony Shore was great for a quick getaway! Having the private stony beach in the back was very relaxing, and the shed had a bunch of extra stuff in it to use (raft, paddles, life vests, etc.) I highly recommend this property for your next stay in Sturgeon Bay! Stony Shore and Door County are also extremely dog friendly so if you’d like to bring your dog then this is the place to be! Lots of stuff for you and you dog to do together :) Lastly, our Stony Shore host was very quick to respond with great communication!

Stony Shore was an absolutely beautiful spot to enjoy our family vacation with our best friends and our children! Gorgeous views and we loved playing games and having dinner out on the screened in porch. WiFi connection was always decent so the kids could enjoy a movie at wind-down time, and we were able to cook full meals in the kitchen with dishes and utensils provided by the hosts. We would definitely consider staying here again!

We loved our stay. The location was perfect for us—quieter than being right in the thick of things, but still easily accessible to the whole peninsula. Also, being right on the water was amazing! We got great use of the screened porch, deck right on the water, and the lovely yard with nice charcoal grill and fire pit. The cabin is small, but incredibly clean, and worked great for us! Highly recommend for a couple or small family. It was also perfect for our two small dogs as well.

This was the perfect place for our family of 4 + our dog. We loved the historic/rustic feel of the place with some nice updates (new flooring, updated bathroom and a/c). We used the fire pit every night and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful setting! We enjoyed some of the many games at the house. The rocky beach was a great place to swim and use the paddle board that we brought with us. (Wear water shoes as the rocks are a bit slippery.) We also loved the screen porch. This is a special place!

Our second stay at Stony Shore Cabin (and our first autumn visit) proved to be just as great as our first. This visit we explored the northern portion of Door County (Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Ephraim, Sister Bay and Bailey’s Harbor). Evening fires in the fire pit were followed by fantastic sunsets sitting overlooking the bay. The blustery weather made the cabin all the more cozy. Loved it!

We loved the rustic cabin and its proximity to the lake and water. The location, being north of Sturgeon Bay, got us closer to all things on the peninsula. The cabin was well stocked, clean and a fun place to stay. We could not find a toaster and the yard guy started mowing at 7:30 am but most of us were awake and it was no problem. We enjoyed a wonderful 3-night stay in early July with our two kids and dog. The cottage was very well maintained and very clean upon arrival. All as advertised. This cabin get away was perfect for a few nights with my 75 year old parents , and my husband. The view of the lake through the trees, to include the sunset was absolutely wonderful. There was just enough room, great provisions, and memorable moments made. There's a lovely deck to relax on, and just enough yard to have a nice bonfire and even play some yard games. We loved the porch, also with a great view. There are wineries nearby, and restaurants and stores a short drive away, but most of all there's a sense of peacefulness and escape right on the property. It truly was a nice stay at a beautiful place.

Stony Shore is a small, comfortable home away from home. The house is furnished nicely with comfortable chairs, couch and beds. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and appliances. The house was clean and nicely decorated.

Quiet and peaceful retreat. This property has a nice combination of indoor and outdoor spaces to relax. The sound of the water at night was very calming. The area has very little light pollution so we could see the stars at night. Also, the place was spotless.

Great location, it's close to both Sturgeon Bay and the rest of Door County. There are houses next door but there are plenty of trees that screen them so it's very private and quiet. The cabin is well stocked and had just about everything that we needed :) The only hiccups in the stay was at check-in when the key was not placed where the instructions stated it would be. A quick call to the host and it was quickly fixed. Other that they really need to trim back the trees/bushes around the address marker. Coming from the South it is completely covered and not visible causing us to pass the cabin multiple times.

This hand made pine cabin is comfortable and warm. A beautiful western shore gives a view of Green Bay sunsets that demands contemplation from either the screened back deck or from the fire pit. Very clean. Thank you.

We loved our 3 days at Stony Shore Cabin!! The location was perfect - easy access to all of Door County, without being in the thick of the tourist craziness. It really does feel like you're staying at a friend's family cabin, unlike some Airbnbs we've been in that seem to have zero personality.
The trickiest part was finding the driveway, it comes up quick and the fire number is hard to spot. But once we did getting in was easy, just as described in the welcome message.
Loved the screen porch, deck, and firepit area, all with beautiful views of Green Bay.
We would definitely consider staying here for future Door County trips!

We spent a couple days exploring Sturgeon Bay and brought our dog along. This was a great place close to the city but in a very quiet and secluded area which was just as described. A quiet, quaint cabin on a rocky shoreline...really enjoyed the pictures depicting the history of the cabin and its owners. Loved hearing the waves crashing on the shoreline, even took a swim but it was rough due to the combination of rocks and waves. Fabulous place to enjoy the sunset. I would highly recommend for a quiet getaway!

This IS a little rustic cabin, and I was surprised to find that it is one of the most special little spots I have ever been to. From certain rooms in the cabin, it looks like you are on a boat, and the swim in the lake in front of the house is nothing short of magical.

Nice location right on the water. Very clean and nice to have internet access. We found the location close to Sturgeon Bay and rest of Door County to be good. The cottage is quaint. The only recommendations would be more comfortable chairs on the screened in porch. Also a nice soft mattress pad on beds would help. Other than that very nice cottage!

Our stay at Stony Shore was better than we (me, my wife and our 9-year old Brittany Spaniel) had anticipated it would be. The accommodations are ideal ... a rustic hand-built cabin (with pictures to prove that displayed on the walls) set in an idyllic wooded lot directly on Sturgeon Bay. The sound of the water lapping on the stony shore at the property's edge is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the simple things. We are definitely coming back!

We had a great time at Stony Shore Cottage! Being right on the water was a dream, hearing the waves crash at night and watching some beautiful sunsets. The bench overlooking the lake is perfect, I had coffee there every morning. There are houses close by but lots of trees inbetween the properties so it felt very private. It was hot while we were there, but the window A/C unit worked super great and there are multiple fans to use as well. The bathroom feels very spacious for a small cabin. The kitchen is small but very well-equipped- I love that they provided grilling tools (they're under the sink!). We spent most of our time outside, sitting around the campfire at night. I do wish that the porch was still screened in, there are glass windows installed in it now that you can't open, so it got a bit stuffy in there during the day. We opened the side door and it was fine, but I kept thinking how nice it would have been to fully feel the breeze out there when we were eating dinner. But overall we had an amazing time at the cabin and highly recommend it- the location alone cannot be beat, it was truly magical. We hope to return again someday!

Our stay at the Stony Shores cabin was exceptional. We spent nearly a week there with the kids, and the location was better than we expected. The view of the lake from just about anywhere on the property made the whole trip worth it. The kids had a great time playing on the rock beach, and it was spectacular to watch the sunset over the lake every night. The cabin was the perfect balance of furnished / rustic, and we were not missing anything. The location is a good roughly mid-way up the peninsula, and close to town if needed.
We would definitely stay here again and again, and you should too!

This property was terrific! The views of the lake were breathtaking and the cabin itself was exactly what was advertised. The cabin came fully stocked with all dishes, towels, and coffee filters! We loved having access to the kitchen, fully equipped with pots and pans. The view was great! Wished we could have used the fireplace, but the weather was not favorable. This location is only 5mins from a few wineries in Carlsville, and 15mins to Egg Harbor. Great place to hike practically across the street. Our pooches loved the amenities, too. Scott and Wendy were super communicative and helpful with out booking! We will be back!

The property was beautiful, the views and sunsets were a highlight. The water access was great, and had a nice rock beach area. (Bring water shoes) the cabin itself was super cute and very vintage/rustic. There are pictures of the history of the property displayed which I thought was lovely. It was well equipped with utensils and it was very clean upon arrival. We will be back!

We stayed at Stony Shore Cabin for several nights in July with 4 adults, a toddler and two dogs. The cabin was spacious and clean. We spent our evenings grilling and watching the sunset over the water. There is a small path down to the stony shoreline (we saw how the cabin gets its name) and we were inspired by the painted stones in the cabin to create our own stone art. The location of the cabin is excellent for day trips to other parts of Door County and there is a small nature preserve just down the road. We would highly recommend this property to other families!

We had a great time during our stay. It's not always easy to find dog friendly properties and we wanted to bring our (rescued 6 months ago) on his first out of town adventure. The cabin is exactly as described and pictured. Maybe a little rustic, but two bedrooms, a big covered back deck, a grill, firepit, and great deck on the water to watch sunsets. Check in was an ease and any questions were quickly responded to. And, we loved all of the family photos!!

Great views. Enjoyed rustic cabin feel and solitude. Rocky beach was limited due to high water. Recommend renters being own dish soap and paper towels. Lights for porch and outdoor areas are located in the broom closet. Certainly rough around edges but we enjoyed that aspect of it. WiFi worked fine, we didn’t turn on the TV at all during the trip. There is a charcoal grill for guest use.

We really enjoyed ourselves. We wished it was a little warmer so we could of enjoyed being outside by the water but the view out of the living room winter was just as beautiful. The one thing we hoped was different is check out and check in time. An our earlier and later would of been perfect.

My sister, cousin and I just spent a week at the Stony Shores cabin. It is clearly a well-loved part of this family’s past, with knotty pine paneling and a big screened-in porch that looks out over Green Bay. As other reviews have said, the view alone is reason to stay here: a private wooden platform right at the edge of the shore holds a bench that provides a perfect spot to watch passing birds and sailboats, or read, or meditate. There is a binder with suggestions for guests, and instructions for using the very nice TV. There’s also a CD player. And I can attest to the fact that the futon couch turns into a very comfortable bed! Many restaurants, shops and farm markets can be found within a short drive. We had a very active week, but still had time to relax ‘at home’ - Stony Shores!

We just returned from a wonderful stay at Stony Shore Cabin. The location was perfect... Close enough to town and the state parks,, but wonderfully quiet, with just the sounds of the waves splashing on the shore. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean, and the screened in porch reminded me of the cabins we stayed in up north growing up. There are plenty games, books, and a nice selection of DVD's for a rainy day. Stony Shore is a perfect place to get away from it all!

Needless to say my wife has commented on the number of people the lone bathroom held. Having to dogs of our own we were not unused to having company while in the bathroom, but the amount of photos on the bathroom wall was somewhat of an eye opening experience. Nevertheless we persevered. Having grown up in the early 60s we both had no problems adjusting to the lone a/c. We made use of the available fans plus a couple we brought. Reheat on we don’t cook on vacation. That said we visited our favorite restaurants but discovered a new favorite “Birmingham” just down the road from the cabin, ooooooh so good. Had filet and deep fried lobster. Yummy! Door never disappoints, so we enjoyed touring new areas and meeting new friends. All in all another beautiful place in Door we thoroughly enjoyed.

We had a slight mishap when we arrived the cleaner had not been through yet after the last tenants. However within 45 mins Wendy and her team had us shifted to another cabin only a mile away that was on the water and just as good if not better than the Stoney shore cabin. They were prompt in responding and addressing our issues and we had a wonderful stay at the new cottage. As someone who uses AIRBNB regularly we would highly recommend leasing from Wendy, because she will make sure any issues you run in to will promptly be sorted.
