Thenell's Cottage

My family has been going to this exact cabin for decades & we are friends with the original owners. However, responsibilities were taken over by other family members and made into an Airbnb. We had not been up to the cabin since before Covid and we were excited to go back to our favorite place! But when we arrived, it was disappointing to see how dirty the inside of the cabin was.. It was as if there was little to no effort in cleaning up before we got there. On the floors were bits of candy, many small pebbles and rocks, and two fish hooks! There was broken glass in the fridge and blood smeared on the entry door.. EW! And the tables were not wiped down in the common area.. Like I said, just disappointing.. We had to buy our own klorox wipes and clean it ourselves and we even left wipes for whoever comes next because yikes.. It’s hard to feel comfy on vacation in a place that’s so dirty. As for the physical location of the cabin, beautiful as always! Just bring some slippers maybe.

Nice cozy cabin in Door County. It was perfect for my son and I. Enjoyed some local restaurants and fishing charter while we were there. Got to catch some nice fish. We will be back!

Thenell’s cottage was such a wonderful stay! The cottage has what you need and is clean and comfortable. Pictures can’t capture how gorgeous the property is. Staying during a heat wave we were nervous about the lack of air conditioning but the cross breezes with the windows open kept it comfortable the entire time. Fans were provided and were helpful! Our favorite part of the stay was the beach! My kids loved swimming in the bay, the water off of the beach was shallow and calm. It’s very rocky so water shoes are a must! Stunning location, cute and comfortable space, we definitely plan to be back!

Exactly as it is described, Thenell Cottage is clean, cozy and comfortable. Having visited my Grandparents cottage growing up, this rustic cottage felt very familiar. The waterfront location is everything. The sunsets are beautiful. We are looking forward to a trip back.

The view was OUTSTANDING, and the sunsets are to die for. The cabin itself was very homey and made for a really relaxing time. The privacy was great as well, making it a very romantic stay with my girlfriend. Not far from any of Door County's hotspots as well. As a couple, I can't think of a more perfect place to stay in the area! We will be back! It sometimes felt a little cramped in certain parts of the cabin, causing me to stub my toes a fair amount, but that is partly due to my clumsiness. Overall, though, there is absolutely NOTHING that would make me not want to stay here again! :)

We absolutely loved our little cabin by the water. The weather allowed us to leave the doors and windows open all night and enjoy the breeze and sounds of the waves. We never had any concerns, the neighbors were amazing yet very private. We would 100% stay here again. Thank you so much!
