Door County has always had that cozy, cinematic charm, but this year it’s officially movie material. Cherry Pie Christmas, the newest holiday film making waves this season, was shot right here on the peninsula, spotlighting real local landmarks, festive traditions, and even one of our very own homes.
That’s right: Simple Life Rentals proudly manages Colling’s Log House in Ephraim, one of the featured filming locations.
When you see the warm cabin glow and those signature log beams on screen, you’re getting a glimpse of one of our favorite properties. We loved having this home play a part in creating the film’s holiday charm. We were thrilled to have this beloved home play a role in bringing the movie’s holiday magic to life.
But the film didn’t stop at showcasing just one beautiful home. It also highlights one of Door County’s most beloved winter traditions: the Sister Bay Christkindl Market.
A Market Straight out of A Christmas Movie (because it is)
In Cherry Pie Christmas, the Christkindl Market scenes are some of the most heartwarming, twinkling lights, Scandinavian charm, steaming cups of glühwein, and the friendly bustle of a European-style holiday village. And the best part? It’s not movie magic. It’s real, and it’s right here in Sister Bay.
Hosted by the Sister Bay Historical Society, the market returns for three festive weekends in 2025:

• November 28–30
• December 5–7
• December 12–14
Visitors can expect:
🎄 Traditional Nordic foods to warm your bones
🎁 Fine artisan goods perfect for local holiday shopping
🎶 Live music that transforms the whole grounds into a festive village
The market plays a memorable role in the movie and this year, the excitement is even bigger. It’s rumored that the stars of Cherry Pie Christmas will be back in Door County on December 13th, with a special screening at the Door County Auditorium and autograph signings at the Christkindl Market that weekend. Whether you’re a fan of the film or just someone who loves cozy winter traditions, it’s shaping up to be the ultimate holiday outing.
Winter in Door County: More Than a Movie Set
Beyond the film locations, Door County itself becomes a winter postcard. December is the perfect time to enjoy:
- Festive village shopping
- Cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in Peninsula State Park
- Scenic winter trails and quiet lookouts
- Warm cafés, pubs, and supper clubs
- Peaceful mornings and starry nights It’s the slower, cozier version of Door County that makes people fall in love with the peninsula all over again.
